Discover Rome as a living museum of history and art during this weekend study trip to Italy’s capital.
Professor Russakoff focuses on the grandiose heritage of ancient Rome, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum and other sites studied in the classroom. Visits are planned to the major museums, including the Capitoline Museums and the Vatican Museum (above) with its famous papal collections of antiquities.
Professor Baltay invites students to explore Baroque Rome and the remarkable works of Caravaggio. From the private collection of the Borghese art on display in local churches, students experience firsthand the painter’s particular vision and innovative interpretation of the secular and religious climate of the Counter Reformation. Visits also include the Vatican, the Barberini, the Capitoline Museums and others.
