Marseille — city of Phocea, the Greeks, the Resistance and home to generations of immigrants from across the Mediterranean and Africa — has forged a multicultural identity unique in France.

Today, the city is in the middle of an urban transformation. It is within this context that Marseille has become an illusory character for numerous writers, painters, musicians and filmmakers over the years.

Students who participate in this study trip will gain a deeper understanding of Marseille, from its ancient heritage to its industrial wastelands. Visits to selected museums, the docks and quartiers populaires are included.
