MOROCCO PEN PAL PROJECT
We are working with the S.A.D.I “pen pal” program designed to encourage habitual writing among elementary school students in the Medina of Fez, Morrocco. An elementary school student from Fez will be paired with an AUP student to exchange letters in French to help children practice writing since French is considered a language of the educated and elite in Fez, and to also form relationships between school children and university students. All fundraising events will go towards raising money for our members to occasionally visit the students we are interacting with.
STARWAX DJ MAGAZINE
France's number one magazine for DJ's, diggers and beatmakers is coming to recruit students interested in translating articles and helping with interviews and events.
TRANSCRIBING THE PAST: RWANDAN GENOCIDE
Last semester, we organized an event on the Politics of Non-Intervention: Remembering the Rwandan Genocide, where a survivor came to share her testimony. This year she would like to recruit a group of students to help her write a book about her experiences.
We promote the French language to AUPers with various speaking levels by providing non-academic, comfortable environments and events that require and facilitate its use.
Our myAUP site now has 65 members and our Facebook site 56! Keep them coming!
The mission of the French Club is to:
• To position the French Club as an opportunity to interact with the Parisian community outside the AUP bubble, through the exchange of drinks and ideas.
• To create the environment to comfortable for students to explore and engage with French Culture.
• To identify and stimulate innovation in organization of student events.
• To promote awareness of Francophone cultures around the world.
• To facilitate and drive communication and interaction among the French department and the student body, and work with them to effectively complement what is being learnt in the classroom.
