You can access your AUP e-mail using an application ("client") that supports the secure IMAP protocol ("IMAPS" or "IMAP over SSL"). Examples of secure IMAP-capable clients include Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird and Apple Mail.
This is the basic information you need in order to configure an IMAP client:
Some e-mail clients will only display your Inbox folder by default. To view your other folders, you will need to "subscribe" to them. Please consult your e-mail client's documentation to find out how to do this. For example: instructions for Thunderbird; instructions for Microsoft Outlook.
Your Name: Your full name as it should appear in the "From" section of your e-mail messages. Email Address: This is your "From" email address. Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) don't allow you to use a "From" address that isn't one of their own. Therefore, if you are unable to send e-mail with your AUP address in this field, enter a personal address provided by your ISP. Note that messages you send will appear to be coming from the address you specify in this field. User Name: This is your NetID. Password: This is the password for your NetID account. Incoming mail server (IMAP): This is the AUP mail server that delivers your incoming messages. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): This is server that will send your outgoing messages. If you are connecting from off campus, enter your ISP's SMTP address (e.g. smtp.free.fr or smtp.neuf.fr). If you are connecting from on campus, simply enter mx.
