Getting started

Smart desk key

Before attempting to use Smart Classroom Equipment, please ask for the "Smart Desk" key at reception in the relevant building.

 

 

 

Smart Classroom Equipment looks like this:

Turn the System ON

Power- Verify that the master power switch is in the ON position.
- Press On to power on the source you need (DVD, VCR, etc...)

 

 

Display source- Select the source to display
- Press Display on to turn on the projector (Projection screen comes down automatically)

 

Using the DVD player and VCR

- Insert your DVD or videotape into the player (Do not forget to select the source, according to what
you are watching)

(You can also plug in a video camera. However, to do this you must request a remote control from ITS before your class).


Control Panel - To control the DVD or video, use the Media Link Controller (these are the same functions as on your home DVD remote control).

 

 

 

- When finished, turn off the player.
- Finally, turn the system off by pressing Display off (this will also turn the projector off and roll the screen up)

Using the built-in computer

Workstation

Logon- Log on to the machine by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete
- Enter your NetID and password

 

 

USB- Insert your usb key or CD into the Computer

 

 

- When finished, logoff the machine (DO NOT SHUT DOWN OR "LOCK" THE COMPUTER !)
- Finally, turn the system off by pressing Display Off (this will also turn the projector off and roll the screen up)

Using your own laptop

Laptop connection- Connect the video cable to your laptop's VGA port. Connect the mini jack plug for sound.
Note that if you are using a MAC, a video adaptor is required (ITS cannot provide this).
- Use the Electrical socket to plug in your laptop's power supply .
- You may have to send the display from your computer's screen to the projector by pressing the
Fn+F4 or Fn+F8 keys (depending on your laptop brand).
- When finished, turn the system off by pressing Display Off (this will also turn the projector off and roll the screen up).
