Connect to the AUP wireless (wifi) network: MAC OS X 10.3 and 10.4

These instructions apply to Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and 10.4 (Tiger), with Airport 4.1 or later.

For Mac OS X 10.4, please skip the first section (you don't need to install the network certificate).

Installing the AUP Network Certificate (OS X 10.3 ONLY)

  1. Log in to your computer as a user with administrative privileges.
  2. Download the AUP Network Certificate to your hard drive.
  3. Double-click the certificate file. This will launch Keychain Access and open the Add Certificates dialog box.
  4. Select X509 Anchors as the Keychain type. (IMPORTANT: If you can't find X509 Anchors in the list, check that the name of the file aup-ca.pem is in LOWER case)
  5. Enter the Administrator username and password when the system prompts you to.
  6. Restart all applications that access the Internet (e.g. Apple Mail, Safari, Firefox, iTunes, etc.)

Configuring the WiFi Connection

  1. Launch the Internet Connect application (to locate it, open the Finder and click Applications).
  2. Select New 802.1X Connection... from the File menu.
  3. Set Configuration to Other and Network Port to AirPort. Enter your NetID and password and set Wireless Network to AUP.
  4. From the Configuration drop-down list, select Edit Configurations...
  5. In the window that opens, select only PEAP.
  6. Save your changes and connect to the network. You should receive a warning message that the certificate is not trusted, and asking if you want to accept it. Press the Accept all button.
  7. If it doesn't connect the first time, try again and it should work.
