Advising

At AUP, you will work closely with academic advisors who can help you with many things, including major and course selections, transfer credit and substitutions (if needed), scheduling, study abroad options and much more. AUP is small enough that we will know you by name and will remember your personal needs and interests. We are all personally invested in your learning goals and your timely graduation. We will also encourage you to link your academic interests with appropriate co-curricular and internship experiences so as to enrich your AUP education and to align it with exciting career options. We are here to help!

The academic advising program at The American University of Paris assists students with:

  • course selection
  • long-term academic planning
  • choosing a major or minor course of study
  • general education requirements needed for graduation
  • junior degree checks
  • clarification of transfer credits and course equivalencies

Our Advising Center has academic advisors who are on call for walk-in supplementary advising when needed and also provide help for:

  • study abroad applications
  • advisor reassignment
  • verification of junior degree checks
  • referrals to Academic Departments
  • evaluation of your advanced placement, transfer credits and transcripts

The Academic Advising Center is available from Monday to Friday in 69, quai d'Orsay.

Your specific advising experience will depend whether you come to AUP as a first-year student, a transfer student, a visiting student or a graduate student. By clicking on the Advising checklist item above, you will understand your specific program requirements and options and how you will engage with your AUP advisor. Please be sure to complete this important step, which is required before you register online.
