Orientation Week

Orientation at The American University of Paris is mandatory and takes place before the start of classes. It is an essential part of your academic journey at the University and vital to your integration, both academically and socially.

During Orientation, you will:

  • Benefit from Academic Advising and finalize your registration for classes.
  • Meet your Student Advisor and learn about student life at AUP.
  • Learn more about academic expectations, policies, and resources.
  • Discover and join, student government, media, and clubs.
  • Learn how to connect with others on campus outside of the classroom.
  • Initiate the process of formalizing your legal status in France with AUP’s Student Immigration Services office (not required for European Union nationals).
  • Start the process to open your French Bank account.
  • Choose your French phone plan and get a French sim card.
  • Get to know other students from around the world!

Pre-Orientation

Before arriving on campus for Fall Orientation, you will be asked to complete a series of online activities designed to prepare you for life at AUP. Through these activities, you will get essential tips for living in Paris, receive advice on how to make the most of your AUP education and learn more about student life at AUP.  The goal of pre-orientation is to help you feel at home at AUP before you even step foot on campus.

Most activities involve watching a short video and answering a few simple questions. Depending on your cohort, you will have approximately 10 activities, each one taking about 15-20 minutes to complete. All pre-orientation activities are asynchronous, which means you will be able to complete these at your convenience, as your schedule allows.

Pre-orientation begins Monday, August 2, 2023. You will receive more information on how to access your pre-orientation content in July.
